12th October – Alan Jones “It’s Not What You Say.”
Alan Jones delivered an amusing and really fascinating talk on body language, using illustrations and observations from the worlds of politics and celebrity as well as audience participation. To see us all sitting holding hands would have been a sight to behold and who would ever have thought that the story of Pinocchio had it’s foundation in truth!
14th September – Judy Theobald “Life and Other Problems”
The extremely humorous Judy Theobald had us all chuckling as she spoke of “Life and Other Problems” interspersed with some very funny poems that she had written on certain aspects of “Life,” including an ode to Probus!
From an early age, Judy had yearned to be a journalist but there were few opportunities in journalism for young ladies an so, in an attempt to find suitable employment, she ended up in secretarial college, which she loathed. However, it did prove to be a back door into journalism, via a short period as a policewoman and, eventually to a successful career in local news and then on to local radio.
A thoroughly entertaining speaker – she will be back!
10th August – Dylan Thomas
