It was a beautiful day as we made our way to the Dudsbury Golf Club, which was a good omen for the day ahead. The good feeling continued as we mounted the stairs into the sumptuously appointed Bentley’s Restaurant and out onto the balcony to take in the splendid views over the golf course. “Magic” we thought to ourselves and, indeed, magic was what was on the agenda.
Professional magician, circus performer and fire-eater Kevin Burke entertained us with an hour of the most amazing tricks and feats of memory, aided and abetted by “volunteers” from the audience. Sadly, a fire-eating demonstration was not on the agenda but we’re keeping it in mind for the summer barbecue!
The meal was served with great efficiency and seemed to meet with almost universal approval and it would be churlish to mention the lack of butter with the bread rolls and rather too few vegetables!
Overall, this was a most excellent event and, as a consequence, we have already booked the same venue for our Christmas Lunch!
