To see Lindsay today, it’s hard to imagine him as a pirate but that, indeed, is what he was!
A keen listener to Radio Luxembourg from an early age and an enthusiasm for electronics, led him into free radio, broadcasting under various aliases from secret locations around London. With the launch of pirate radio ships Radio Caroline and Radio Atlanta, it was a logical progression for Lindsay to join them.
The advent of commercial radio, saw Lindsay become “legit” and he joined Radio Hallam in Sheffield as a Presenter before moving on to become a key member of the team that acquired the Buzz FM franchise in Birmingham. Using revolutionary digital technology introduced by Lindsay, Buzz FM was technically far advanced over it’s rivals and this led to his subsequent career building and installing digital sound systems in hotels, restaurants and the like. Lindsay illustrated his talk with anecdotes of the radio personalities of that era together with video and music clips from the time which, for most of us, was a very pleasant trip down Memory Lane!
