Because of the covid pandemic there was no Christmas Lunch last year so we were all very keen this year’s event should be a big success to make up for it.
Once again, though, covid had an input and, as the Omicron variant took hold, there were many discussions in committee along the lines of ‘should we/shouldn’t we run the event?’
Time alone will tell if that was the right decision but on the day itself it was, unquestionably, the right thing to do.
Everyone who attended was determined to enjoy themselves, our stand-in speaker Susan Howe was a big hit, and Tyrrell’s Ford excelled themselves with both the quality and quantity of the meal. The smiles and laughter increased as the meal progressed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Most of us lingered long over our coffee and forced down a mince pie before making our way home for what, in many cases, would have been to collapse into an armchair for a nap!
A very big ‘thank you’ to everyone involved in making the day such a big success and to everyone who came in spite of their reservations.
